Several Canadian municipalities are struggling with excess precipitation, which leads to overflowing infrastructure and destruction of roads, homes and businesses. The IBC is developing a Municipal Risk Assessment Tool to help communities and insurers assess potential risks due to increased precipitation.
The Municipal Risk Assessment Tool will provide visual representations of infrastructure within municipalities to pinpoint weak spots and help local governments prioritize upgrades. This tool can also predict and display infrastructure failure with a high degree of accuracy. IBC is working to complete the tool by collecting data on twenty Canadian municipalities. (IBC)
