Understanding Your Coverage
At Intact Insurance, we want to ensure you have the coverage you need and that it is explained to you in a clear and concise manner.
We have made changes to our home insurance policies recently, to help clarify what you are covered for.
A few examples of these changes include:
Water Damage from Frozen Pipes: While we still encourage you to take these steps, you are no longer required to have someone check your home or, shut off your water supply and drain your pipes or, have a monitored alarm system in place during the heating season. All you need to do is to keep the heating on while you’re away.
Coverage for Dependent Students: Students are no longer required to return home at the end of the school year in order to qualify for property coverage under your policy. We have also clarified that students have liability coverage under your policy.
Vacant Dwellings: We have clarified our definition of a vacant home to include only those cases where someone truly has “no intent to return to” the home. Water damage coverage is now included in cases when you have informed us that your home is now vacant.
New Policy Documents: We have transformed the layout, look and feel of the policy documents you receive from us so they are easier to read and understand.
At Intact Insurance, our goal is to continue to look for new ways to make it easier for you to understand your insurance coverage and increase awareness of what you are protected for.
