How You Can Help Stop Circumcision

There are many things that you can do on your own:

  1. Educate yourself about the anatomy and functions of the normal male foreskin... what it is, how it works, why it's there, how it benefits the male who owns it and his partner. Understand its value. The best place for this is www.cirp.org

  2. Educate others... pass on your knowledge to family (including children), friends, your own physician, lawyers, government representatives, religious leaders, the news media (newspapers, magazines, radio and TV talk shows), and anyone else that will listen.

  3. Write letters or e-mails to the editor of your local or national papers, talk-show producers, etc.
  4. E-mail "Ask Our Medical Experts" and "Advice Column" web sites and columns requesting they present factual information on the normal anatomy and functioning of the natural intact penis.

  5. Contact insurance companies to have them stop paying for circumcisions.

  6. Write letters of complaint to hospitals, clinics, and physician, nursing or birthing groups that perform or condone circumcision. (Public, private and military)

  7. Complain to Medical Boards and other medical practice sanctioning authorities.

  8. Review online (and hard copy published) dictionaries, glossaries, encyclopedias and medical references... complain if they do not present factual and accurate information.

  9. Put up your own web site presenting your opinions about circumcision. Be sure to link to other sites, including Intact

  10. Review other circumcision information web sites and notify the web master of typos, dead links, or other errors. If you find any on our site, be sure to let us know.

  11. If you have a payroll deduction plan at work for charities, request that anti-circumcision organizations be added to the list.

  12. Attend baby fairs, Lamaze classes, La Leche League meetings, and similar groups to see if they present factual circumcision information. Volunteer to get them some if they don't. If they do, ask if you can help.

  13. Speak at your local fraternal organization, parenting group, educational institution, library, retirement center, etc. about circumcision.

  14. Make (or copy) circumcision information flyers and handouts (either full page paper or shirt pocket size cards) for posting on free bulletin boards, in medical office buildings, doctor's waiting rooms, elevators, tape inside rest room stall doors, free library bookmarks, above tavern urinals, in shop windows, church or synagogue bulletin boards. (I know some of these locations are a little humorous, but the idea is to stretch your imagination when considering locations for sticking up a flyer or info sheet).

  15. Put an anti-circumcision bumper sticker on your vehicle or wear an anti-circumcision T-shirt. You can find some at: www.noharmm.org/market.htm. Putting such a T-shirt on your little one is especially effective. You can find one at: www.nocirc.org/publish/pam2.html

  16. Motivate others to take action too.
